Are people forgetting?

The story that everybody's writing this Sept. 11 is about how after six years it's changing from a current event to an historical event.

Last week I photographed a high school class and Sept. 11 is now literally in their history books.

But the memories still linger in both large and small ways.

The flight my family took on this summer's vacation departed from Newark Airport's terminal A, gate 17. The same gate as Flight 93. Only a small flag atop the jetway marks it's place in history.

The largest and most visible is the ceremony every Sept. 11 in New York City.
This year I was the Star-Ledger's representative in the photo pool that covers the event. It's obvious that the families who lost loved ones have not forgotten and they are working to make sure nobody else forgets either.
